Child Maltreatment Disclosure to a Text Messaging-Based Crisis Service: Content Analysis

Disclosure of child maltreatment is often a grueling experience for children and may result in the young victim re-experiencing the trauma. Children and young people who disclose their experiences risk inadequate support through the disclosure process, social stigmatization associated with maltreatment victimization, retribution by the perpetrator, and removal of the victim or perpetrator from the home.
